Superawesome blog - before & AfterSuperawesome blog – before & After

The Reason Behind the Redesign

As I mentioned once before this blog’s (now previous) design was never given some deep thought, it was just implemented in accordance to the site’s guidelines, to fit well with the site and not feel like it is powered by a whole different app (entire site is powered by the amazing Textpattern). So we held the initial design up until a point when it really became an eye sore for us, which in turn resulted in far less frequent postings. It was time to get it into shape.

Color Scheme Change

The first thing you’ll probably notice is the color scheme change – the entire site is light text on dark background – and that’s fine for the small amounts of text we have on our site. But when it comes to the blog section, where readability is very important, it was evident that the contrast of text vs. background was too high (even though text wasn’t #fff), and overall we felt like we needed something new and better, something more blog-like. Finally we opted to reverse the color scheme for the blog section, set a nice contrast between the text and the background so that the text is not 100% black and the background is not 100% white. Although, we wanted to retain the Superawesome brand and style in the design of the blog, so the styles of the links, grid, typography etc. are still in connection to the site.

The Conclusion

Finally, we hope you’ll like the new design, and we’ll certainly do our best to make it as good as possible, and we’ll continue to work on it as we go along. This being said, in case you notice some weirdness on the site, please contact us and let us know, we’ve also updated Textpattern to the most current version, and we’re hoping we have covered everything, but there’s always something that gets through unnoticed. We appreciate your help and support, cheers.

  6. I find the background pattern really distracting and difficult to read with. Other than that looks pretty good :o)

  7. @Denis – Wow, it’s really strange to me you find it distracting since it’s barely noticeable. It’s gotta be a monitor thing or something, I’ll look into it. Thanks for the feedback.

  8. Tackice mi igraju pred ocima :o)

Sto se monitora tice, moguce je da se na nekim monitorima manje vidi pa manje i smeta.

Tired of Styling Forms Over and Over Again? Why Not Give Uni-Form a Try?

Uni-Form is our own take on what we call a “framework for HTML forms”. It comes with two predefined form layouts you trigger via CSS classes, and also xHTML snippets of form elements called “units”.
